Dr. Manfredi Piccolomini

Dr. Manfredi Piccolomini, a native of Florence and a resident of New York, graduated from the University of Florence and went on to receive his PhD from Harvard in 1978.
Dr. Piccolomini is a professor at the City University of New York and was a member of the Council of National Endowment for the Humanities (2006-2009). He has published several books and editions on the Italian and European Renaissance, including the Brutus Revival, which received praise and recognition from the scholarly community.
Dr. Piccolomini also contributes to national magazines and periodicals with general interest articles.
The former Cultural Director of the Foundation for Italian Art and Culture, Dr. Piccolomini has organized several important exhibitions in New York and elsewhere, including the first ever showing in the US of Raphael’s La Fornarina at the Frick Collection, and the Antonello da Messina show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Dr. Piccolomini became President and Cultural Director of MAP in February 2009. He brings to the Project his competence in non-profit management, his proficiency in Renaissance studies, and his experience in organizing exhibitions in museums in the US and abroad.
